5.6 | Relocation

As CTC has gone remote, we’ve opened our virtual doors to hires across the United States. We’ve got talent across the country and an implication is that means the view from your window can change! A move will trigger a chain effect for us internally, here is what you need to know if you’re planning on moving:

  1. NOTICE | The Diff Dept needs at least ONE MONTHs notice so that we can research the new city/state and establish CTC there if necessary
  2. RELOCATION | Since this relocation is one that you are choosing and we support within the United States, CTC is not responsible for any relocation associated costs.
  3. HOURS OF BUSINESS | Your standard hours might flux with your move into a different time zone. We ask that you do your best to reflect the standard hours of your team, with some flexibility on either side. So long as you’re available when your team needs you most often and meeting all deadlines, we’re good.
  4. PAY | CTC is a business and a business functions off of a budget. We hire using recently run market rates based on position and location to ensure our pay is fair and competitive relative to where we hired you. That means we aren’t prepared to adjust pay if/when you decide to move of your own volition. We also want to partner with you in your journey so, here’s what we are prepared to offer:
    • Your pay will reflect the rates of where you were hired and will not change (up or down) so long as you are in the same role you were hired into/role you held at time of your move.
    • If you have a title change (promotion or lateral move within the company) and living in a new location from the one you were hired in, your new role/title salary will be reflective of market rates relative to your role and new location.
    • Your pay for a promotion/lateral move will be adjusted to market rates in your area, but you won’t drop below what you are currently making – no cuts to your pay. It’s just that if an increase in pay were to occur, it would be based on where your new roots have been planted.
    • Raises | if you qualify for a raise that outside of a promotion or title change, market rates for your role will be run for both the your new city as well as the one you were hired on at. Final raises will be impacted by both cities information due to a relocation.

Very clear and well laid out. I was onboarded without such documents in a previous position so this is a welcome change in the level of clarity and explanation.

I’ll certainly be making use of this handbook for regular review.

Also impressed by the generous referral programs, how cool.
