5.3 | Overtime [for Non-Exempt entrepreneurs]

Occasionally some overtime may be required.  Working assigned overtime is an important part of each non-exempt entrepreneur ’s job responsibilities.  Common Thread Collective is open for business 40 hours per week.  Overtime compensation is paid to non-exempt entrepreneur s in accordance with federal and state wage and hour restrictions.

Non-exempt entrepreneur s are generally entitled to one and one-half (1 ½) times the entrepreneur ’s regular rate of pay for hours worked over (40) forty in one workweek, eight (8) in a single workday, and/or for the first eight (8) hours worked on the seventh consecutive day of work in a single workweek.  In addition, those entrepreneur s are entitled to overtime at the rate of two (2) times the entrepreneur ’s regular rate of pay for hours worked over twelve (12) in a single workday, or for hours worked over eight (8) on the entrepreneur ’s seventh consecutive day of work in a single workweek. Time off on personal time, holidays, or any leave of absence will not be considered hours worked when calculating overtime.

In addition, vacation time does not constitute hours worked. All overtime work performed by an hourly entrepreneur  must receive their immediate direct supervisor’s prior authorization.  Authorization from the immediate direct supervisor must be a tracked request via email with Subject Line reading: “Overtime Request – Date.” Overtime worked without prior authorization from the immediate, direct supervisor will be paid, but may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
